This course explores modern poetry as it developed from the turn of the twentieth century up through the post-WWII period (1910-1945), on both sides of the Atlantic.

This course prepares students to be able to translate from Arabic into English looking at some of the theories in translation like equivalence, types of translation and translatability; and also by doing practical translation. Students will also have a look at legal translation.

This course equips students with the necessary tools and mechanisms to communicate relevantly in a professional context. It is composed of both speaking and writing practices that will help students improve their skills and competences, and make them familiar with how to speak or write English according to different environments.
